I was asked to lead the creation of a visual identity for an internal Google Ads team. We channeled the team’s energy into a vibrant new logo that captures their playful spirit and still observes Google’s own branding system.

 

We needed to design a system that would feel unique to the team’s charm, yet operate within Google’s own distinctive visual identity.

The inspiration for the musical note logomark was based on the abbreviation for BPM, standing for “beats per minute”. In this instance, it served dual purpose for the team name “Brands and Product Marketing”.

The Challenge

The ability to incorporate the new visual identity into the team’s work streams was vital. We utilized the system in team onsite events, creating seasonal logo morphs and presentations that mirrored the playful nature of the base design and were stylistically inspired by previous Google Doodles.

The Application

We received high praise for our ability to create fresh and engaging designs for each request following the brand system implementation.
